Summer Social Chair Sean Mullin really knows how to create a great event! The Annual BCO Summer Social was held on Saturday August 10, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Neighbors from across our community showed up to enjoy the great activities.
This event has grown and changed over the past five years, bringing out the young, the less-young, new families, and long-standing neighbors. Like last year, the day started out with yoga in the GreenSpace, led by Coconut Yoga. This is the second year that this yoga studio participated in our event. We love having them kick off the day, and it’s a fun experience to be one with nature while doing yoga.
We are so thankful to the local sponsors who partnered with us to present the day’s activities. Thank you to Rogers Park Montessori for sponsoring the super-fun waterslide / bouncy house. This feature of the party is always a huge hit with the kids. Another highlight of the social is the ice cream, pro-vided by Pauline’s! We love having them in the neighborhood and helping us keep cool on a hot day. Other sponsors included, Scooter Works Chicago, Jeff Graves: North Edge Group Real Estate, Chef Martin Sausages, Urban Pooch, Northside Comic Artists, Spiteful and Half Acre.
For the adults, we wanted to make sure there was plenty to do, so just like last year we continued the water balloon toss, egg toss and music from until 8:00 pm, with adult beverages.
As always, this event would not have been as successful if it weren’t for Sean and his crew, members of the BCO Board, and the other neighbors who gave their time for set up, tear down, scooping ice cream and helping with the games. To all of you who worked at, sponsored or simply attended the Summer Social, a big THANK YOU!
