BCO Gardening Plots

The Gateway Garden (5386 N Ravenswood Ave) and Bowmanville Garden (5410 N Bowmanville Ave) lots are available to gardeners interested in growing vegetables and edible plants.

The 2023 rules and guidelines are included as part of the annual plot application form.

Annually, gardeners interested in applying for a plot should:

Step 1: DO NOT PAY FEES until you receive notification of a plot assignment.

Step 2: Review the annual BCO Gardening Vegetable Plot Application form including the annual BCO Gardening Rules.

Step 3: Complete, sign, and submit via the online form below, per the instructions on the application.

Step 4: DO NOT PAY FEES until you receive notification of a plot assignment and an invoice.

The 2023 application opens February 1, 2023 and remains open until February 15, 2023. The application form, guidelines and rules are updated annually.

This application is for one plot only. The plot rental fee is $50 per season for 4’X 6’ or 4’X 8’ beds. The season lasts from March 2023 – November 2023. Once your application is accepted, an invoice will be sent and payment is due by 3/1/2023.

For each plot, 10 documented BCO gardening volunteer hours are required – the 10 hours must include at least 4 hours at a designated gardening workday and may include up to 2 hours at a BCO gardening event. Time tending your vegetable plot and required weeding of its 2 foot perimeter area are not counted towards this volunteer time.

Membership in the Bowmanville Community Organization (BCO) is required; the annual BCO membership fee is $20. If your application is accepted, and you are not currently a BCO member, you must complete the separate membership application and pay the membership fee when a plot is assigned to you.

All gardeners must attend one of two 2023 Season Orientation
– Saturday, March 11th 9-10am at the Gateway Garden
– Wednesday, March 15th 7-8pm via Zoom
Zoom meeting details will be sent to individuals who are awarded plots. You must complete orientation even if you are a returning gardener, or you will forfeit your plot award to a person on the waiting list.

When all plots are assigned, applicants are placed on a wait list for plots that might become available during the season. A completed application is required to get on the wait list.

You can find the online payment page link on the main dropdown menu or click here for BCO Online Payment page. For payment (after selection process), you will enter 50 into the “Other Payment” field, 2023 Gardening Plot to the “Comment” field and your invoice number in the “Invoice Number” field.

Please complete the Online application/rules/guidelines form below.
