The Westgate garden initially started after a traffic calming project. After the city added the bump outs at the corner of Berwyn & Bowmanville, B.A. Church started improving the soil and planting flowers. Over the past several years B.A. has transformed the space into a beautiful perennial garden. In the summer of 2008, B.A. and the the gardening committee started a new area of plantings to complete the corner and Bowmanville Avenue side. A “Welcome to Beautiful Bowmanville” sign was added to mark the west entrance to the neighborhood.
