Neighbor and volunteer Laura Schmidt is organizing the Street Sale this year. Many thanks to her for her hard work. She could use some help with putting together and distributing packets and posting signs.
To offer your help or for additional information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Bowmanville Community Organization (BCO) sponsors this annual community wide garage/yard/street sale. All residents living in the BCO Boundaries (Foster to Bowmanville, and Ravenswood to Western Avenue) are invited to participate. You do need to be registered with our event to be covered by the city permit, see below.
To get word out, the BCO will be placing ads in several newspapers and online publications as well as promoting via Facebook, craigslist, etc.
If you have ideas on a specific place to promote the sale, please feel free to print & post (or circulate via email or other means) the Street Sale Promotional Flyer. (Keep in mind, the City of Chicago has passed laws prohibiting the posting of fliers on public property.)
To cover the cost of materials and advertising and support the work of the community volunteers, the BCO charges a nominal fee to participate.
The BCO works with Alderman O’Connor to get a special PERMIT to cover EVERYONE who will be participating in the street sale. PLEASE NOTE this permit only authorizes sales under the umbrella of the BCO. The city of Chicago requires an individual permit for all garage/yard sales. In order to be protected under this BCO sponsored permit with the city, you must register for the BCO street sale.
Prior to the sale you will receive a kit that includes copies of the yard sale flyer for you to post, a map of your address and other participating addresses where sales are being held, safety tips, and a copy of the approved permit. We ask that you help us by distributing copies of the sale flyer in busy places. Good locations include area busines, churches, worship halls, laundromats, and grocery stores. The more publicity the better the sale! See you there.
